Traveling to Barcelona

By air: The Barcelona-El Prat International Airport (code: BCN) is about 15 km from Barcelona. There is a bus connection every 5-15 minutes depending on the hour of the day with several stops within the metropolitan area, and trains leave the airport for the city centre every 30 minutes. A taxi to the center of Barcelona costs around 25-30EUR depending on the time of day you travel and how many bags you have. The airports at Girona-Costa Brava and Reus, both about 100 km away from Barcelona, are served by several low-cost airlines. There are shuttle services between these airports and Barcelona's central bus station (Estació del Nord), which is across the street from the Onix residence and very near the ESSLLI site.

By rail: All international train routes to Barcelona terminate at the Sants station (Sants Estació), the city’s main railway station. The Spanish public railways network is run by RENFE and connects all the regions on the Iberian peninsula. Two metro lines and several buses connect Sants Estació with the rest of the city (see below).
