Celia Alba

I am a linguist for the University of Barcelona, and I have studied the MA in Cognitive Science and Language. Currently, I am pursuing my PhD in the program Linguistic Communication and Multilingual Mediation at the Pompeu Fabra University.

My investigation focuses on syntax from a formal point of view. Specifically, I am studying the syntax of Catalan Sign Language (LSC). The aim of my dissertation is to propose a formal characterization of wh-questions in LSC, and to put forward an analysis of this kind of sentences.

Also, I am interested in the biological foundations of the language faculty. Lately, I have collaborated in some works which try to move forward towards a characterization of the nature of some basic design features of human language.

Every now and then, I post in this informal syntax blog.
