Marta Mosella

I have a degree in Catalan Philology at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). Also, I have a master’s degree specialization in language. Now I am a PhD student at Universitat de Barcelona (UB) and I have taken part of this project with an FPI grant for predoctoral researchers from 2007 to 2011.

My fields of interest are syntax, sign languages, syntactic typology among sign languages and first language acquisition. All this within the generative syntax theoretical framework.

My research paper discusses the acquisition of (oral) Catalan as first language. Now, I am working on my PhD dissertation, which focuses on the restrictive relative constructions in Catalan Sign Language (LSC). This work has several goals. I want to describe the structure for the first time, propose a syntactic analysis, increase the syntactic typology among sign languages and, finally, find the effects of the gestural-visual modality in this construction.
