The structure of the text: When paraphrasing, apart from changing the words we should also change the structure of the text, keeping the same meaning relations expressed in the original.

Example:

Besides being a theory about the basis and origin of knowledge and the contents of our minds in general, empiricism is also sometimes a methodology.

Paraphrase:

Not only is empiricism a theory about the basis and origin of knowledge and the contents of our minds in general, it is also sometimes a methodology.
