Laboratori de Llengua de Signes Catalana
Alexandra Navarrete
I got my BA in Applied Languages at Pompeu Fabra University and I hold an MA in Theoretical and Applied Linguistics from the same university. I am currently part of the LSC Lab as a pre-doctoral researcher within the SIGN-HUB project.
My research focuses on Information Structure, with a special interest on focus strategies in Catalan Sign Language (LSC). Thus, my thesis aims to describe how focus is expressed in LSC, mainly from a pragmatic perspective.
In addition, I work as a sign language interpreter, and I collaborate on the LSC corpus project, promoted by the Institut d'Estudis Catalans (the Catalan institution for the normalization and normativization of the languages in Catalonia). Furthermore, I teach Spanish and Linguistics in the BA in Translation and Interpretation and in Applied Languages at Pompeu Fabra University.
